The Olive Cafe is conveniently located just steps away from bustling Lechmere Station in Cambridge. Despite the conclusion one might draw from the name, it is not, in fact, a martini bar: it is a Greek restaurant with a focus on pizza, subs, and wrap sandwiches. I think you know which of those we got.
Before I get to that, the quality of the service is itself worth noting. Those taking and making the orders are unfailingly friendly; patient while customers scan the vast menu; and speedy with their preparation. It makes a difference.
Also of note are some good bargains: only $6.25 for a small cheese pizza that easily feeds two and a special deal of $8.99(!) for two small cheese pizzas. That’s a stone cold, hot pizza bargain.
Now to the pie. The crust is fairly thin but soft and doughy and features a nice dustiness around the edges. I may have a misconception based on some bad past experiences, but I generally expect a fairly garlicky taste when it comes to Greek pizza: that was not the case here at all. The ingredients (all fresh by the way) blended very nicely and maintained their integrity through each slice.
Combine the good food, low prices and free delivery, and you’ve got yourself one heck of a local pizzeria, not to mention all the other selections. I may have to stop by again soon for steak sub Thursday.
